[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] If you remember the sensation last year that was Blundercover, a foundation/concealer hybrid that out of the blue went completely viral thanks to its lightweight but effective coverage, you’ll be pleased to know that Monika Blunder has launched some new products. They’re absolutely spot-on for the sheer trend. When small brands experience an overwhelming success thanks to social media, there’s no guarantee at all of any further successes so new product development has to be very carefully thought through. I feel that’s happened here, although I’m saving testing the lip crayons until the weekend and will review them separately next week.

The first thing to say is that the Botanical Lip Tint tubes are much smaller than the box so don’t be startled! Generally, I don’t like to see this because I feel it’s misleading – the tube is 2/3rds of the box. That said, if you like sheer tints you are not going to be disappointed by either the shades or the quality of the balm.

Aside from key ingredients of hyaluronic acid, shea butter, rosehip, arnica and edelweiss (enjoying a revival as a key ingredient across some big brands), they’re beautifully soothing with just the right hint of colour. They have a better than usual lustre so give a really lightful shine to the lips as well as improving lip condition overall. It’s this kind of product that really is a skincare/makeup hybrid giving the best of both worlds.

If you like your blush sheer and understated, the Liquid Flush is an easy win. It’s such an easy wear and looks as good over make up as it does to bringing some life to bare skin.

Personally, I would not have used a doe’s foot applicator. To me, it doesn’t feel natural to dot the face and then blend so I swept the product onto a brush and took it straight to my face like that which worked like a charm. We’re seeing a lot of creme/liquid blush at the moment and it’s a very skin compatible texture. These have the benefit of skin caring ingredients too – arnica, edelweiss, safflower and C10-18 triglycerides. I’m still on the fence about skin care in products such as blush because you’re only ever bringing their benefits to a small part of the face. I totally get it for lip care and foundation but for blush it’s not so crucial.
